The Maserati Quattroporte looks set for a more extensive facelift than we were expecting, if these latest spy shots from Italy are anything to go by.
Our spies say they’ve not seen such heavy cladding on a Quattroporte prototype before, which suggests that the 2010 model’s front end will be heavily reworked. A new-look grille should bring the Quattroporte’s looks in line with that of its more aggressive sibling coupĂ©, the GranTurismo.
Meanwhile, bigger front air intakes will feed a new direct-injection engine, likely to be related to the unit that powers the recently unveiled Ferrari California.
Further camouflage around the rear end of the 2010 Quattroporte indicates changes there, too. We’re expecting LED rear lights and a third brake light added on the bootlid lip.
Maserati will face stiff four-door competition from the likes of the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera come 2010, so it needs to keep the Quattroporte competitive until an all-new version arrives in 2012. (Thanks to Autocar for News and Pictures).
